Morning in Myrtle

This is a poem I wrote on one of the first mornings of my new life.  Sunbella is what I call the sun.  Bella in Spanish means beauty.

MORNING IN MYRTLE

Sunbella wakes early.
I do, too.
She casts a tropical rainbow
filling the horizon
to announce her coming --
turns the ocean indigo,
the sky burnt orange
and pineapple and turquoise.
Then the sky dims
to a murky gray,
knowing it is no match
for her glorious beauty.
She peeks above
the line at the edge of the world,
shooting up fast now.
Molten gold diva
with many looks --
half a succulent juicy orange
hot air balloon
celestial light bulb --
illuminating and energizing
the world
the ocean
the sand
my soul.
Sunbella is a dazzler.
The day begins.
